Treatment of Brain Tumor

Surgery

It is the primary treatment to remove the tumor without harming surrounding brain tissue. An incision is made into the skull to remove the tumor completely or partially in case of proximity to sensitive areas of the brain.

Radiation Therapy

Also called radiotherapy, radiation therapy is the use of high-energy rays to kill tumor cells. It may be used for people who cannot undergo surgery. In other cases, it is used after surgery to kill any tumor cells that may remain.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to destroy cancer cells or slow the growth of the tumor. It is typically given after surgery and possibly along with radiation therapy.
