This surgery is done through small incisions over the joint. A small camera known as arthroscope is inserted into the knee to view the internal structure of the joint on screen and hence diagnose the knee problem.

This process takes less recovery time and less incision over the joint.

Symptoms for Arthroscopy Knee Surgery:

  • Fractures in the knee joint
  • Dislocation of the patella
  • Inflamed lining of the joint

Arthroscopy surgery can be done for:

  • Removal of loose fragments of cartilage and bone
  • Reconstruction of a torn ACL

Arthroscopy Knee Surgery Procedure

  • Step 1 Anesthesia: General anesthesia although sometimes either Regional anesthesia or both has been given to patient.
  • Steps 2- Two small incision made over the knee- one for the arthroscope and one for the surgical instrument.
  • Step 3- Special sterile salt water is pumped in to expand the knee, which makes it easier for the surgeon to see inside the joint.
  • Step 4 – Arthroscope is inserted into the cuts and the surgeon will look inside the joint using the attached camera
  • Step 5 – Correction in tissue is made after surgeon has located the problem.
  • Step 6 – After surgery fluid is drained out and the incisions are closed with stitches.

Post-Operative Rehabilitation:
